Lime concrete is the material of choice for the sustainable, conscientious specifier or user. Today, the savings in cement and the subsequent reduction in energy consumption and CO2 release mainly justify the widespread use of flyash in concrete. However, flyash contains harmful chemical components, and heavy metal presence is a common occurrence. Although these components are encapsulated in the cured concrete, some of it may be released if drilling or demolition occurs. The lime concrete does not contain any of these harmful elements. It is a "Green" material by nature (calcium carbonate) and reduces the emission of CO2 in the atmosphere by more than 60% when compared to cement concrete. Its use on "on grade" slabs is especially recommended for chemically sensitive areas such as living spaces or wine cellars, or simply in sustainable construction.
